Another gift for a good person

I'm sending $100 to Val from Colorado. She sent a request recently asking for some help with a doctor's bill. I know that $100 will hardly cover a co-pay for a routine visit to the doctor these days. But my thinking is that a few extra dollars will take some of the sting out of the check up, x-ray or exam bill.

We won't get into the politics of medical care, health insurance and the like here in the United States. Suffice to say, it's not cheap to go to the hospital or specialist whether you have insurance or not. A trip to the hospital for a serious illness or procedure can result in a family going deep into debt in a few short days.

You can make a difference though. If you have a neighbor or friend who is struggling with medical bills, offer to help them out. Even if it's just a little bit, if you can afford it, do what you can to help them. If you can't really afford to pay for another person's doctor bill, consider volunteering with a hospital or medical related charity. Giving up an afternoon of your time to help others is just as good, if not better, as giving money.

Thanks for reading and listening while I climbed up on my little soapbox here. I'll be back soon with more updates. Keep those requests coming.

Well it's nice to see that you are still around and doing nice things for other people. I guess that my request just wasn't in the cards

I want to do what you do. Think I just might. I don't have much but even if I could help a little, that's better than nothing! Thanks for inspiring me and also I did send a request.

Rojo,
Every little bit helps. I encourage you to consider giving back just a little of what you can spare.

Martina,
I can't fulfill every request. But I do what I can. Hang in there.

What you are doing is very compassionate. You heard about Bill Gates giving away half of his fortune to charities. 28 Billion or somewhere in there. I was thinking, I wish he could have shared one of those Billions just like you are sharing now. Helping out many ordinary struggling people in our country. A Billion would have gone such a loooonnng way for ordinary people!!!

Dear Scott,
Your site gives new hope to many and of those you choose to help, I hope that in some way they will pay it forward. Can you imagine what a wonderful world it would if we could all do something, however small if we just helped each other?

Dear Scott,
Your site gives hope to many in time of need. My hope is that of those you help, I hope they find a way, however small it may be to pass it forward. Can you imagine a world where each of us could do some act of kindness each day? That would be Heaven on earth. God Bless us all.

I think what you are doing is great. You are absoultly right if more people would help others the world would be a wonderful place. I always try to help others in any way I can. Unfortunatly I am not in any way able to help others financially, however, I do other things. Like give hand me downs from my childern to others who can not afford it be a friend when needed anything really that is in my powers. I believe in doing for others as you would like done for yourself. Good to know that there are others out there doing as they can. Maybe one day I can financial afford to help out people, but untill then I will continue doing what I can when I can. Even with just a few good hearted people the world can seem better.

You are absoultly correct. If more people help others the world would be great. I have always tried to help others when possible. I am in no way finacially able to help out at this time in my life. Unfortunatly I believe many of us have fallen on hard times, however, I do other things to help when I can. I believe in doing for others as you would want done for you. Many times our kindness may be mistaken for weakness, but I just smile and continue being me. So glad that there are others out there too. Keep it up. I am sure what you have done has already made someone eles a better person. One step at a time we will all get there.

If every person in this world with the means to do this would do what you do and take time to care there wouldn't be so many people in so much need. There are so many people with money who think they are above us "poverty level people" they think our situations are due to some action of our owne (in some cases maybee) but not many. We are dealt our hands in life and do what we can with them and sometimes no matter how hard you work or how bad you want your life a certain way sometimes it is out of our controll! We should ALL be thankful for what we do have, no matter how bad we think we have it (and I am not saying it's not bad, I am in a situation myself) we should ALWAYS be thankful for what we do have, health, love, health of someone we love, life, opertunity to try again tomorrow. Even without the fancy cars and house, clothes ect. (even though I get sad sometimes mad) I thank God everyday for blessing me with this day, my children's health, my family, my health, my husband's health and the love we have for oneonother! And I can say no matter how bad things have been without material items (and they have been pretty bad) we have always had those things...and those are the things I could NEVER live without!

This shoould be like the movie pay it forward. I always have been one to give rather than recieve but if I do recieve I like to pay it forward to someone else in hopes they will do the same. God Bless you and your family.
