I don't make loans and don't believe in encouraging anyone to go into debt to chase their dreams.

However, I do believe in the entrepreneurial spirit and working for one's self.

I've earmarked $750 to support Mitch's idea and efforts. This is not a loan and not something to be repaid.

However, as with everything else in life, paying it forward is important. If Mitch achieves his goal and successfully builds his dream business, I hope he'll be able to help others in the future.

Good luck to you, Mitch!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-28336894879729035502022-03-07T08:45:00.003-08:002022-03-07T08:45:37.011-08:00Free Money for Olivia from Vermont
Olivia from Vermont writes:

My parents and I have been saving money for several years in order to pay for my college education. The cost of college is no small expense, and for most people, it requires years of saving, investment and sacrifice to pay for it.

With the cost of tuition, books, room and board and other expenses rising every year, it's more important now than ever before to find ways to pay for school that don't involve taking on massive debt at a young age (or any age, for that matter).

If your state has a College 529 plan, this is one of the smartest ways to save for your child's or grandchild's future. Saving a little bit each paycheck or making contributions to the account on a regular basis can really grow and add up over the course of 18 years.

I will make a $250.00 contribution to Olivia's college goals. They have struggled financially since the pandemic hit earlier this year and have fallen behind on some bills.

The father, who asked that I don't post the family's names, recently found a new job after being laid off in the spring. In order to keep getting to and from work, he needs reliable transportation. However, due to falling behind on payments, he was at risk of losing his car.

$500 will allow him to make two car payments and bring his bill close to current, and his first paycheck in a few weeks will get the family the rest of the way to getting right with the auto lender.

I'm an advocate of buying only as much car as you can afford, using cash, and avoid payments and interest. Yes, there are drawbacks to buying used. But once a car is paid for, it's yours. There's a sense of financial and life security that comes with knowing your car, your home or whatever else it is has been paid for and is YOURS. I highly advise avoiding car payments whenever possible. Your life will become far easier because of it.

Have a wonderful day and keep your requests coming.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-75196998632425879872020-07-13T15:19:00.002-07:002020-07-13T15:19:59.590-07:00$200 For Kelly's College Fund

Kelly from Utah recently messaged us to discuss her college plans. Given all of the upheaval in our world today, it's understandable that some young people are struggling with planning for their educations after high school.

There's no way of knowing if our world will eventually get back to "normal." But what is clear is that there is still a need for education and it can be very expensive to meet this need, whether attending community college or moving out of state for school, in-person or online.

Kelly asked if I would be willing to fund all or part of her education. I responded that I'd be able to make a small contribution of $200. This may not be a lot. It probably doesn't even buy two textbooks. But I hope it makes a small bit of difference in her four-year adventure that is soon to begin.
It's older but worth a read. It's not what I normally post on this blog but thought it might be of help to some people.

Per MarketWatch:

Whoever said “nothing in life comes free” didn’t take into account the myriad government programs that help people pay for things like college, day care and a new home. Most of these programs are funded by taxes, so technically you pay something for them, but they’re as close as you’ll get to getting free money from the government. Here are a half-dozen programs to look at:

I've personally recovered a lot of money through state government unclaimed funds sites. When every little bit helps, it's good to know about these options!
Nellie from Tennessee contacted me recently. In these unprecedented times, many people are struggling with life's daily expenses. As Nellie explained, she wanted to purchase groceries last week but was currently out of a job and needed assistance.

Our family's weekly grocery budget is $125. We ourselves sometimes struggle to stay under $125. But even with the means to spend much more, we feel it's important to stay under budget whenever possible.

I will send $125 to help Nellie and her family and hope that it helps stretch things just a little further during a very difficult time.

If you currently have a job, feel very blessed. If you are out of work and struggling, know that this is temporary, others care about you and if you stay focused, you'll be able to bounce back stronger.
I was recently contacted by a man from Arizona named Juan. His family has an unreliable automobile but they don't have the money to make payments on a brand new one.

I hope this small gift will help get Juan's family on the road to wherever they need to be going. It should cover a payment or two on a reliable, used car!

Many, many people email me each day. So how did I pick Juan for my response? He messaged me here on the web site, which is important. Although I have Facebook and Twitter accounts, I generally try to respond first to requests that come in via the contact form on givingawayfreemoney.com. I do read my messages on Facebook and Twitter, too. It's just a little easier to manage when they come through the web site.

Juan was also clear and realistic with his situation and his need. He didn't ask for a million dollars. He asked for help with his challenge and I tried to provide part of the help he'll need to get there.

I wish you all a safe and happy New Year. Keep in touch and I'll keep doing what I can for all of you.
I met Juliet on the site's Facebook page a few weeks ago. She had some significant expenses coming up in December and I agreed to help.

$50 won't cover everything. But sometimes a little help is what's needed to make positive progress to tackling those bills and necessities.

I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you who have visited my website this year a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.

I'll be here with you in 2019 to share important moments with you. Please remember to do good for others, even if you're facing challenges in your life. It will come back to reward you in one way or another.
You may have noticed I haven't posted to this blog in a long, long time. I didn't go anywhere. I still check my messages. I'm just a bit lazy about doing blog posts. I thought today would be a good day to remind everyone that I'm still here and responding to as many people as I can manage.

I received an email from a person in Arizona who wished to remain completely anonymous.

This person's truck was in need of expensive repairs so that they could continue to drive to work each day. Unfortunately, even when we work, sometimes a paycheck just doesn't stretch far enough. So I've sent my new friend from Arizona $250 to use toward these critical repairs.

I hope this will get you back on your feet (and wheels), my friend.

If you meet someone in need this week, please do what you can to help. Even a small helping hand can make all of the difference for someone.
I received an email from a lady named Teresa in Kentucky. She lives with her two grandsons and explained that money is tight right now.

Teresa didn't request a specific amount. So I chose to send her $100 to help with whatever bills need paying.

I've passed through Kentucky many times on various trips. I have memories of visiting the Louisville Slugger factory and the University of Louisville as a child. In fact, I still have some souvenirs from the bat factory!

Good luck to you, Teresa. I hope this little bit helps.

If you are in need, please don't hesitate to contact me. I can't respond to everyone. But I will do what I can to help as many people as I can.
I recevied a letter this week from a person named Morgan from Arizona. Morgan graduated from high school several years ago but never pursued a college education. The reality of adult life is that without education or training after high school, many career paths and doorways to opportunity remain closed.

The other reality is that education of any kind is pretty expensive these days. Tuition, books and materials and other fees can add up quickly, even for commuter students at community colleges or those attending classes online.

Morgan asked if I could contribute to his/her ambitions to obtain a degree. My answer was yes.

I will send Morgan $500 to use toward education expenses. It's a small part of what will be a very expensive but very worthwhile pursuit.

Morgan - best of luck to you in your field of study!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com75tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-89918580192249480622013-12-19T07:08:00.002-08:002013-12-19T07:08:16.240-08:00Money to support the independent artsToday I've decided to contribute to an independent music internet radio station run by a man named Erik from Dunfermline, Scotland.

This small $50 gift will hopefully help Erik continue his efforts to share great music with people around the world.

You may have noticed that most of my publicized free money has gone to individuals in need or for very specific purposes. Occasionally, I like to change things up a bit. In this case, I happen to be a musician myself and Erik's cause really caught my attention.

So even if you don't think your need is "worthy" or is as significant as some else's, remember that there are many reasons I give and those reasons change from day to day.

I appreciate everyone's emails and hope you'll continue to share your stories with me and that you'll continue to help others when you can.

I hope you will consider doing the same for a good cause.
Some background on the story from Fox:
New York City blind man saved by guide dog will have to give up dog over insurance coverage

The blind New York City man who credited his guide dog for saving his life Tuesday when he fell onto the subway tracks said he is going to be forced to give up his dog because the dog is nearing retirement and his insurance will no longer cover him.

The lab, named Orlando, will be 11 on Jan. 5, and will be retiring soon, Cecil Williams, 61, said. His medical benefits will cover a new guide dog but won't pay for a non-working dog, so he'll be looking for a good home for Orlando.

"If he had the money," Williams said, "I would definitely keep him."

The local radio morning show host brought this very interesting web site to my attention during today's show.

GoFundMe.com is what's known as a "crowdsourcing" site, where folks like us can raise money for worthy causes or even for ourselves.

I haven't done a thorough study of GoFundMe, but I like the spirit of the site. It seems to be organized and designed as a way to help those who need help. That's why I founded GivingAwayFreeMoney.com. The only difference is that you can personally solicit donations on GoFundMe, while I'm the one who funds you on my site.

Give it a look. You may find it to be another helpful tool if you are in need or know someone in need. Or perhaps, like me, you may even find a way to donate to someone else's need or cause.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com99tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-41490032170238455382013-11-13T06:41:00.002-08:002013-11-13T06:41:41.395-08:00Sharing $200 With Alyssa From Virginia For Health Insurance PremiumsI received a letter recently from a woman in Virginia named Alyssa. The subject was timely and it caught my attention.

As many of you know, November is often the enrollment time for health insurance coverage with many employers in the United States. Alyssa's letter described her selecting coverage for her family and the significant expense this creates for her budget every year.

Well this year, I wanted to do something to help out. I have decided to send Alyssa and her family $200 to apply toward their insurance premiums that they pay out of their own pocket.

While this may not cover all of the expense or even most of it, I hope it makes things just a little more manageable for Alyssa.

And to everyone else who has contacted me this month -

I've been getting so many letters recently. I'm happy that I've been able to connect with so many of you. If I don't answer you personally, please don't think that I'm not interested or concerned for you. The emails come in, sometimes a dozen in a day, and I will respond to as many as I can. I may not write to you directly and I may not always post updates to the blog. But I will continue to do everything I can to help whomever I can.

Please continue to do your part too. If you can, help out a friend, neighbor or stranger today. You'll be glad you did.

See you soon.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-1363174449027816062013-05-31T10:40:00.000-07:002013-05-31T10:40:00.405-07:00$120 for water bill, cell phone for BrennaI recently spoke to Brenna about some of the challenges she's facing in her financial life. Brenna is a single, 20 year old woman. She hopes to be able to afford to purchase auto insurance so that she can drive her car again and look for a new job.

But first things first, she told me that she has a water bill and a cell phone bill to pay.

To help Brenna out, I gave her $120 yesterday.

Good luck to you Brenna. Once you're back on your feet, I'm hoping you can do something to help another person in need.

Talk to you all again soon!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-62123387886714655952013-04-01T05:08:00.000-07:002013-05-11T05:16:39.117-07:00Birthday money for Emily from OhioI met Emily (from Ohio) via an email, as I meet so many of you too. She was 18, unemployed and was feeling bad that she was about to turn 19 without any means to celebrate her birthday.

Although a birthday celebration is somewhat trivial, sometimes it feels right to help someone with something small - a kindness that may not change their world but might brighten their day.

In addition to giving Emily $100 to take a friend out to lunch and have some left over to simply spend on herself, I encouraged her to seek some form of employment, even if it was part time work.

Do you have a request for assistance? If so, I'm still here to help, even though my posts have grown a little less frequent as my career consumes a larger portion of my time. Just because I don't post doesn't mean I'm not doing what I can to help.

Also consider liking this site's Facebook page. It really has helped get the word out. Remember though, I don't accept requests for free money on Facebook. Those requests must still come through this web site.

Thanks everyone. Talk to you again soon.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-89462703855946246522013-03-02T05:00:00.000-08:002013-05-11T05:07:59.851-07:00$225 for CierraCierra contacted me in need of $400 for costs related to a legal case she was dealing with. With no income and no options, she didn't have any way to get the bill paid and was concerned about getting on the bad side of the court.

We had a discussion about the nature of the issue and her options. We discovered her bill was actually smaller than originally thought - $225. Definitely more welcome than the 400 dollar tab. It pays to examine bills and fees closely so that you're not overpaying when you don't have the spare cash for it anyway.

I provided Cierra with the money she needed and the bill was paid. We've agreed to keep in touch, which I thought was nice too.
I would encourage you to offer what little bit of help you can. There is an email address to contact the family in this story. I'm sure they need all of the kind words, prayers and yes, financial support, that they can get.
WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A family in Woodstock, who just lost their home of 20 years to foreclosure and are preparing to move out, lost even more on Wednesday.
And it was because of what they triggered when they posted a craigslist ad Tuesday night.
Their online post was just a well-meaning ad for a giveaway in their driveway outside the small house, a giveaway scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

I am awaiting an email response from the family. So I can't say yet that I've been able to help them. But I pray that some of us might be able to make their situation a little less difficult. I know all of you will do what you can.
During that time, I wasn't posting new blog updates but I was reading to and responding to emails I received both here and on the Facebook page.

I appreciate your patience during this down time and hope everyone realizes that even when I'm not posting on the blog, I am still around.

I received so many messages from so many wonderful people. It makes it difficult to decide who I can or should help, how much to give, etc.

So this time I chose to send $300 to Carl from Missouri, who needed help with electric bills that have been piling up. Like most of us here in the States know, it was a very very hot summer. It's really easy to run up the electric bill in a hurry when you have no choice but to run the A/C morning and night just to stay comfortable.

Carl didn't mention if he had a family or if he lived alone. But in any event, I think this will help get him back in the good graces of the utility people.

It does make me feel great to be able to help people, even if it's in a small way like this. As always, I encourage you to do the same for your friends, neighbors, family and even strangers if you can. It's easy if you try.

Have a wonderful day everyone. Keep the letters coming and I'll be back here soon with another update.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3086137891214320135.post-77539271642618225882012-09-01T09:20:00.000-07:002012-09-01T09:20:09.533-07:00Joined Facebook todayI joined Facebook today.
